ELK GROVE VILLAGE – creative werks, a leader in design, manufacturing, and co-packing, is pleased to announce it reduced its Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for 2021, exceeding its annual target by 43%.
In early 2021, creative werks set a corporate goal to reduce its safety TRIR from 3.59 to 2.5, by placing a special focus on safety prevention and encouraging feedback from plant personnel. The team strengthened its focus on a culture of safety in 2021, creating more dialogue around accident prevention and fostering a positive reporting process to ensure associates feel comfortable and empowered in reporting concerns. As a result, creative werks improved its TRIR to 1.43, a reduction of 60%.
“Our team places a high value on safety, which helps us maintain a World Class safety rating,” explained Vito Notarnicola, Safety and Security Manager. “Part of creative werks’ culture of Safety is focusing on preventing accidents instead of correcting them. Our goal is always for every associate to return home to their families the same way they came.”
Some of the notable achievements for the Safety team in 2021 included: a hearing conservation assessment across our three facilities; implementation of mandatory hearing protection in areas with high noise exposure; de-escalation training across all facilities; evaluation and improvements to emergency procedures; and additional training and focus on COVID-19 safety best practices.
In 2022, creative werks will focus on expanding its Behavior-Based Safety model, continue to identify opportunities to improve ergonomics, improve the dissemination of Safety learnings across its three sites, and maintain the strong culture of safety it has developed over the years.
