Helping Highland Park
Monday’s 4th of July holiday festivities, a time traditionally spent with friends and family, were terrorized by a senseless act of gun violence in Highland Park. This hit incredibly close to home for creative werks.
While our country continues to face repeated accounts of mass shootings, it is our responsibility not to grow numb to this horror but to band together and enforce change for our neighborhoods, our families, and our future. This cannot continue, because we all have the right to freedom to go to school, work, festivities, and parades without fear. No one has the right to take away our freedom or elicit fear in our communities. We cannot allow others with malicious intent to take away this fundamental right. As our founders put it, we all have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
Now is a time to rally together and act. We have compiled some ways to help. This can only be the start of a call to action. While we may feel helpless, it is our responsibility to do something to protect our families, our communities, and our way of life. We must also strive to protect our democracy and make sure that elected officials are working to make lives better. Voting and getting others to vote is not optional. Let’s come together and make our great country safer and better.
